Busy Season of Silage Covering

Welcome Fall!

As the calendar flips to the fall months, farmers and agricultural workers across the country are gearing up for the highly anticipated busy season of silage covering. This crucial process is a race against time to safeguard and preserve the valuable feed stored in silage pits or bales.
With the fields harvested and crops cut, the urgency to cover the freshly prepared silage intensifies, driven by the unpredictable whims of Mother Nature. From the crack of dawn until late into the evening, teams of dedicated professionals work tirelessly, ensuring that every pile of silage is tightly and securely covered.

The air is filled with the harmonious symphony of machinery, tractors, balers, and sheeting apparatuses. These tools become extensions of the skilled workers, moving swiftly and efficiently across the fields. Each roll of plastic or netting is handled with meticulous care, unrolled, and stretched tightly over the mound of silage. This process acts as a shield, protecting the nutrient-rich contents from the challenges of weather, mold, and spoilage.
The bustling atmosphere during this intense period demands careful coordination, skilled labor, and a keen eye for detail. The success of the upcoming year heavily relies on the proper covering of silage. The ability to work seamlessly as a team is essential as each individual's contribution impacts the overall outcome. Knowing that each covered silage pile will provide sustenance for livestock throughout the long winter months brings a profound sense of satisfaction. The high caliber of craftsmanship and dedication displayed during this busy season not only ensures a reliable food source for animals but also contributes to the overall success and sustainability of the agricultural industry. It is a testament to the commitment and resilience of those within the agriculture community who work tirelessly to feed the nation.

From sunrise to sunset!

Does not matter where your pile is located, we go from sunrise to sunset. We are always compensated with a beautiful sky, and of course we needed to register them all. This is a high Moisture Corn pile ready to be covered. Today was a very nice sunny day, but it is not always this way. We had faced over 110F when covering, and also below 20F. Either way, we always make sure our employees are prepared for hot and cold days. When uncovering, we had faced beautiful days as well, but as not everything is perfect, we had faced a couple snow and raining days as well.
